Sustainability Taken Seriously
When working with HOCL , you have the most sustainable decontamination solution available on the planet!
Our Commitment
We’re deeply committed to redefining sustainability in Healthcare. As awareness of environmental challenges grows, we’ve taken deliberate steps to ensure that our solutions ecosystem not only meet the highest standards of efficacy but also contribute to the health of our planet.
At the core of our sustainability mission is the innovative use of onsite HOCl generators. These systems represent a paradigm shift in how disinfection can be managed. By requiring only salt, water, and a power supply, our generators produce Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl), a potent and safe disinfectant.
This Approach Offers Multiple Sustainability Benefits:
Independent Study: Comparing Our Ready-To-Use Solution To Onsite Generation
Important: Bear in mind that HOCL’s ready to use solution has a lot less steps than the way traditional chemicals are bottled.
A Dramatic Lower Carbon Footprint
One of the most compelling reasons for adopting HOCl over traditional chlorine-based disinfectants is the significant reduction in carbon emissions. Chlorine chemicals, which are often toxic, generate about 890 grams of CO2 per liter of solution.
In stark contrast, HOCL production results in just 1.8 grams of CO2 per liter. This nearly 500-fold reduction in CO2 emissions underscores our commitment to not just improving sustainability but setting a new standard for what’s possible.
While our onsite generators are a breakthrough in sustainability, we recognize that not all facilities are equipped to produce HOCl onsite. For those cases, we offer bottled HOCl as a greener alternative to traditional disinfectants.
- Safe for the Environment and Humans: HOCLis a naturally occurring substance, produced by the human immune system to fight infections. It’s effective yet safe, with no harmful residues. Unlike many chemical disinfectants, HOCL breaks down into harmless elements, leaving no toxic legacy in the environment.
- Minimal Environmental Impact: Even in bottled form, HOCL maintains a low environmental impact. It doesn’t persist in the ecosystem, and its production is far less resource-intensive compared to conventional disinfectants. This makes it an excellent choice for facilities looking to improve their sustainability profile without compromising on safety or efficacy.
Our Approach
We are closely aligned with the principles of planetary health—a concept that recognizesthe interconnectedness of human health and the environment. A recent article in the Journal of Global Health Reports highlighted the need to rethink traditional disinfection practices due to their environmental impact. The report underscored the harmful effects of chemical disinfectants on both human health and the planet, calling for more sustainable alternatives.
We take this call to action seriously. Our onsite HOCL generation system directly addresses the concerns raised by these global health experts. By minimizing waste, drastically reducing CO2 emissions, and eliminating toxic byproducts, we’re not just improving disinfection practices—we’re actively contributing to the health of our planet.
Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future
At HOCL Health, we’re passionate about the role we play in creating a sustainable future. Our innovative solutions demonstrate that it’s possible to deliver highly effective disinfection while drastically reducing environmental impact. We’re not just meeting the needs of today’s healthcare facilities; we’re paving the way for a more sustainable approach to health and safety.
We invite you to join us in this journey. Together, we can set new standards for sustainability in healthcare, ensuring that we protect both our patients and our planet for generations to come.
