Our Story Begins in 2020

When our chairman, Nelson Ker, a long-time supporter of education, decided to set up Wipe It Off Ltd - a start-up business supplying antibacterial wipes during the pandemic with profits donated back into the education foundation. With a team of young people leaving full time education in the middle of the worst pandemic this century, there were lots of challenges but plenty of enthusiasm and determination to build a business that was focused around providing disruptive solutions to established markets while developing and growing the teams potential.  The added benefit of donating funds back into educational projects to continuously support oncoming generations to meet their aspirations and goals was a key driver in the project. This provided an excellent opportunity for coaching and development with experienced entrepreneurs and senior managers involved.

As antibacterial wipes were becoming a crowded market, the team looked for alternative solutions that were both effective and kind to the environment. This is when we discovered Hypochlorous Acid - a powerful but safe disinfectant that is 100 x more powerful than bleach with no negative impact on the environment.

HOCL® Began in 2021 - A Year Later

HOCL® Health Ltd was created in 2021 so as to focus on the many benefits of hypochlorous acid and the benefits it would bring to many different markets.

The Story of Hypochlorous Acid

Hypochlorous acid doesn’t sound that friendly, we mostly get worried when we hear the word ‘acid’ but in this case its absolutely harmless and an incredibly effective means of killing germs, viruses and spores.

Hypochlorous acid is a naturally occurring substance that is found in the human body and has been proven to be one of the most effective antimicrobial agents. It’s made from water salt and a process of electrolysis, and is 100 times more effective than bleach and other common disinfectants, but is 100% safe for humans and animals. It’s unique properties make it ideal for use in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, public transport and other public places, as well as being used in the home and workplace.

Is HOCL® New?

Hypochlorous acid has been used as a disinfectant since the 19th century, and its first recorded use was in 1834. It went on to be used in the 20th century as a disinfectant in hospitals and other medical settings, as it was found to be more effective than bleach and other traditional disinfectants. It has recently been gaining popularity due to its natural, safe and effective properties, and is now used in many households and public places.

So why haven’t we heard of it before?

The main reason is because until recently the solution was so unstable that you had to use it within hours of generating, before it reverted back to salty water. However at HOCL Health we have been developing methods to stabilise it over much longer times, making more available to everyone. We are now able to offer up to 12 months shelf life making it a game changer! You now have natures most powerful disinfectant constituted with the same structure as your white blood cells, available in a bottle!

 How does it work?

Hypochlorous acid works by
deactivating the cell walls of microorganisms, rendering them harmless. It breaks down the walls of bacteria and viruses and destroys them on contact, making them unable to reproduce or cause infection. It is also incredibly effective at killing spores, which are highly resistant to other disinfectants. This makes it ideal for use in hospitals, nursing homes, schools and other public places, as well as home and workplace.                    

So, in summary:

Our mission is to provide the tools, knowledge and products to make the world a healthier, safer and greener place. We are passionate about helping people combat the spread of viruses, bacteria and other infectious diseases, whilst reducing our impact on the environment. And we strongly believe in the power of education. Our commitment is to donate 10% of all profits annually to educational causes to continuously grow and develop the potential in future generations.
